Prem S. Pillay, M.D.

About Prem

1. Favorite food: Grilled chicken
2. Favorite color: Navy blue
3. Favorite animal: Elephant
4. Favorite hobbies: Collecting stamps (as a child) and traveling
5. If I could buy anything, I would buy the very first printing press
6. If I could go anywhere, I would go around the world in 80 days
7. An interesting thing about me is that I was fired from my first job in the US in less than a month. I worked as a cashier at a grocery store and was fired because I didn't know that in the US people called five cents a nickel and ten cents a dime.
8. I became a doctor to help people. Ironically I hated biology in high school, so I decided to "keep my friends close and my enemy closer" and learned all I could.
9. I chose Cardiology because I wanted to do stress tests. After my internal medicine residency, I couldn't wait to get into primary care. I worked in primary care and one of my patients needed a stress test, and the hospital told me only cardiologists could perform them. So I headed to San Francisco to do my post doctoral research and become a cardiologist.
